RE: How close do you sit to the tank? - The Spaceman_imp - 08-20-2013 When I start off, or when maneuvering around at slow speed, I'm on the front half of the seat. Once moving at higher speeds, I scoot back. The seat now has two "dents," one in each position. RE: How close do you sit to the tank? - wingman1946_imp - 08-20-2013 I can say I have never before found a Honda seat that I could not live with. Until now. I test rode the 1100 yesterday and definitely liked what I saw however the ride was not as great as the appearance. The seat to me is a throw away item. The seat and handlebar positions made me feel like I was on an older Trail bike. I think the light feel of the bike added to that picture. In all I could not picture a ride lasting more than maybe 20 miles. The 1100 is super smooth and quiet and attractive. With the cost of the bike added to the over the top prices of any accessories makes it a no go for me. We will see what they revise for next year. RE: How close do you sit to the tank? - mininsx_imp - 08-21-2013 That seat takes some getting used to and I'm still not used to it! ![]() Personally, I vary my position; I sit close to the tank for a while, slightly away for a while and when the butt burn gets real bad I stand up on the pegs for maybe 10 seconds to get the blood flowing to my old, boney butt!

My butt goes number after about an hour. The seat seems very comfortable to start, but then I just go numb for no apparent reason. I always ride with the balls of my feet on the pegs. I sit about an inch from the gas tank so I can grip it with my thighs. I have a stock seat, a Corbin seat, and in about a month I'll have a K&N Mid seat as well. As soon as I get it I'll host a gathering at my home in North Scottsdale with complimentary food and cocktails. Bring your CB11 and try all of the seats back to back, then several of us can write up a comparison. Stay tuned. Chip RE: How close do you sit to the tank? - HikerToo_imp - 08-26-2013 For the first time in 1900 miles, this past weekend I started to feel a little better on my stock seat, maybe my butt is getting used to it, or the seat is breaking in. I also tried a fellow posters recommendation about sitting back a little when the road opens up and being closer when in the twisties. RE: How close do you sit to the tank? - Houtman_imp - 08-27-2013 I put the Corbin seat on my bike a short while ago and I feel much more comfortable AND also more confident cornering with this seat.I am 6' and about 225 lbs .The stock seat gave me a numb rear end after 75 miles and now I can ride for hours on end.I always have the balls off my feet on the pegs for better control of the bike.(sometimes on the Interstate I change foot position) With the Corbin seat I feel much more ONE with the bike.To me it is the best upgrade I have made for comfort, together with the Over crash bars for protecting the engine. RE: How close do you sit to the tank? - XeNoSCR_imp - 08-30-2013 I'm 6'2" and sit as far back into the curved area that leads to the passenger seat. My l've ridden for hours without my ass getting sore or numb from this seat, then again my CB750 seat is much wider and harder that this. This seat is a dream compared to the old hard OEM 750 seat. Sitting back allows me to get a better grip on the tank as well and makes it a bit easier (for me anyway) to slide side to side for cornering. It also puts my knee in a better position to hang from. If I sit choked up to the tank I can't grip it as well and that tank is wide. I took some advice from another member here and just ordered a CB500F bar and some new Manic Salamander bar end (my addition) so that I'll have a slightly sportier position on the bike. The stock bars and my size put me a little to straight up for my taste. XeNoSCR RE: How close do you sit to the tank? - rboe - 08-30-2013 Chip; I'm game but won't be able to ride for at least 6 weeks. Got new bits installed on my clavicle; a plate and eight screws. Dr's orders, no racing or riding for a while. Luckily this is not prime riding weather. ![]() I used to be 6-2, down to about 5-11 with a 36" inseam. Leg room has always been an issue. RE: How close do you sit to the tank? - the Ferret - 08-30-2013 Rboe..knew it was coming up but didn't know it had already happened. Heal quickly and completely Lorentho! |
