That's about how my headers would look after an hour ride as well, without any protectant. How bad were yours getting before this? My headers have never really looked all that bad. They've only really spotted up once and I think that was because I was riding in the rain when the bike was already in need of a good washing. I polish them with some metal polish every once in a while and live with them until the next time I want to repeat the process. Today I tried the Pro Honda Metal Polish for the first time. That stuff works pretty slick and took less time than I expected. Leaves them nice 'n shiny.
Still, I'll be interested to see how your treated headers fair after a number of weeks. Please be sure to keep us posted.

It's a losing battle with SS pipes. My Supertrapp header does the same thing. I used to clean it once a week with a special polish. The results were beautiful shiney pipes for all of a few days (max). Now I've come to appreciate the golden hue of stainless. In the end, they won't rust (easily). Chrome, on the other hand, will pit on the outside, and rot-out on the inside. Chrome is also something everybody wants to keep mirror shiney... a real labour of love. No thanks.

Update - Uncovered the bike today only to find the leopard spots and oxidation are back on my harder pipe up near the header flanges. i was so hopeful the Sharkhide would work but I gather it burns off after a few heat cycles. A disappointment for sure. Looks like the Jethot coating is the way to go.
