I'm next door in Ohio and the wife (school teacher, hence "after school") has family in New Jersey near east PA. Might drop the bike off and continue on for a visit and pick it up when done. Regarding richening the mix, this will not only improve performance but will also help to run cooler. I've had similar mapping improvements made on other bikes using fuel managers and it usually also increases fuel economy. The lean A/F ratio set by the factory may be good for cleaner emissions, but the added heat of running lean is bad for the bike and it will usually run more efficiently on a richer mix. The stock ECU timing gets retarded in certain zones partly to prevent overheating because of running so lean. I believe that once the mix is richened you can safely advance the timing without destroying the plugs. I cannot think of anything about remapping/reflashing that would be bad, unless he goes too far from optimum A/F ratio or optimum timing in any area. As of right now the tuner is making "educated guesses" that seem to be working fairly well, but I would like to be sure all is right before I pull the trigger. You know, I've a theory about Ferret's fuel consumption. Like you, I don't ride too hard and my average is 5.32 litres/100 kms or 44.6 US miles/gallon. However, If I convert it to UK miles/gallon, that average is 53.6 mpg. I wonder if the Ferret's on board computer is an aberration and reads in UK miles/gallon? RE: Reflash - Randy B - 08-27-2014 Well that is an interesting thought, but the 13 has no computer as such and thus the gas pump(s) he fills at would have to measure in UK gallons instead of US gallons, and somehow I doubt that. Nice try though. (and I know...I just smashed your sarcasm to dust.... )
RE: Reflash - Cormanus - 08-27-2014 You know, Randy, I thought you were altogether a more agreeable bloke when you were spending more time on your bike. ![]() Don't push too hard. I know where this bloke lives and he's as mean as the rest of them,
RE: Reflash - Lord Popgun - 08-27-2014 Is that thing a Dalak? RE: Reflash - Pterodactyl_imp - 08-27-2014 (08-27-2014, 09:14 PM)Lord Popgun_imp Wrote: Is that thing a Dalak? Reflash - Cormanus - 08-28-2014 Excellent, Redbirds. I thought the dalek was a mailbox until it took a pot shot at Pterodactyl. Luckily it missed and I don't think he realized. I photographed it on the way back when it was a bit more subdued.
