As an ex-V7 Classic owner, I think you'll find the CB to be roomier and more satisfying. I loved my Guzzi, but for me, the CB beats it hands down. I just looked out in the garage...and it's still there! Always takes me awhile to get used to the idea of a new ride in the stable. Thanks for all the congrats and, while I know I'm on the right forum to hear such a comment, thanks for the comparison made above. I do like the V7, but in the end I like the CB1100...a tad more. The price difference was there, but not too bad. For those that would like to know, I don't mind saying: I paid $7940 for the CB1100 (no OR sales tax, no set-up / freight), so $8300 for 4 years registration. Apples to apples comparison: the 2015 V7 would have been 7000 even (6000 selling price, but they did want 700 for setup and freight). I craiglisted the dealer asking prices across the country for a new standard 2014 and the lowest I could find was $7000, but that may/may not include freight / set up, or be negotiable. Lots of dealers still asking $8400 and up as their starting point, but I think where I bought mine they know someone will pay the $7940 that we agreed on. Apparently they had 2, one on the floor and the other still "boxed-up", they sold the floor model a few days ago, and sold me the out-of-crate new one with 2 miles on it. Anyway, that's the scoop...now it's time to sell the '83 Yamaha xs650 I have...real nice with only 9k miles...anyone? : ) RE: Fence Sitter no Longer! - the Ferret - 01-03-2016 Ive had 3 650 Yamahas. i love them. First was a 73 TX bought new in 73. Second was a 79 XS bought used. Last one was an 81 XS special of course bought used. I took off the buckhorn bars and put a set of superbike bars on it. Was a great bike, but like most 650 Yams that reach senior status, it started to show its age, oil leaks here and there. An electrical anomoly ... Probably a coil. Anyway found a guy that wanted to make a cafe racer out of it so it went home with him. I sadly came to realize that the on-going dysfunction with U.S. Guzzi dealers made my V7C unsuitable for a long-term relationship, but for the riding I bought it for, it really was a perfect bike. That being said, you will love your CB. I certainly do! [url=http://s1285.photobucket.com/user/ericlevy/media/007-1_zps966cd790.jpg.html]
RE: Fence Sitter no Longer! - quietguy_imp - 01-03-2016 I really like the clean style of your model Guzzi, LR... I readily admit, I know virtually nothing about them. A friend of mine is thinking of buying a V7 who would have no problem letting me ride it from time to time, so I may get the chance to satisfy curiosity. RE: Fence Sitter no Longer! - the Ferret - 01-03-2016 LongRanger..... That is a great photo. RE: Fence Sitter no Longer! - jay4252_imp - 01-03-2016 Congratulations Nice bike Fence Sitter no Longer! - Elipten_imp - 01-03-2016 Heck of a nice photo. Need it with the CB. 2014 CB1100 DLX 2013 CB1100 Std 1990 BMW K75 RT RE: Fence Sitter no Longer! - rboe - 01-03-2016 The V7 is an excellent bike and I'm sure it would have given you a lot of grins. It was on my short list too, but with my inseam, the CB1100 was a better fit. I already had a MG Griso so a little diversity in the fleet was something to go for too. The V7 (or the new V9) would make a great second bike if that is something you could do.And if you had bought the V7, after checking out the CB1100 and posted on the Guzzi thread; I'd give you the same answer. A lot of nice bikes out there, makes it hard to narrow it down.
