Hand signals here too as long as I've been riding. My son inherited that as well. If tooling around in an auto with the windows down it's not uncommon for me to incorporate them there as well (especially when driving my sons El Camino).
As mentioned by others though, I wonder how many of todays younger drivers even know what they mean.

If I was in your position I would see about getting some metal saddlebag guards and mount another set of turn signals (farther back) to em with some kind of easy connectors.
On you factory connectors I would splice in the same easy connectors for just the turnsignals.
This way for your trips, pop the seat, pull the quick disconnects and detach the turns signals with a wrench (5 mins), and mount your saddlebag guards (another 5) and your done
Something like this, tho not as involved

I used to do that for years, but leo cars don't have bubbles anymore... they have light bars or grill lights ... and again no younguns know what that hand signal means.
