RE: Used 2013 for $5,500 vs new 2014 for $7,000 - KiowaEagle_imp - 06-17-2018 The sixth gear would be the decision maker for me. RE: Used 2013 for $5,500 vs new 2014 for $7,000 - Sorg67_imp - 06-17-2018 I like the red better than black. But: 1) New 2) Sixth Gear 3) Improved instruments 4) Factory Warranty Seem to be worth more than $1,500, at least $2,000 maybe $2,500. However, 2013 has rack and new tires. Maybe better tires than the four year old tires on the 2014s. How long to tires last? I bought a 2015 DRZ 400S in 2015 with 1,900 miles and original tires. I replaced the tires since they were 10 years old even though they had very little wear. Might go to local dealer and offer $4,500, out the door. He will probably say no, but If I show him the new ones I can get for $5,999, probably plus $1,000 for tax, tag, title, dealer fee is how I get to $7,000, but I have not talked to them yet. Might be more, or might be less and might be able to talk them down to $6,500. Since I ride mostly around town, the sixth gear may not be a huge deal for me. And if I really like the bike, I might pop for a new new 2018. The 2013 might be an extended test ride for a year or two. RE: Used 2013 for $5,500 vs new 2014 for $7,000 - LongRanger_imp - 06-17-2018 For my money, I'd buy the new '14. New vs. used -- it's a no-brainer.. I'd also have the brake and clutch fluid replaced. RE: Used 2013 for $5,500 vs new 2014 for $7,000 - HondaJon_imp - 06-17-2018 Go with the new unit. Ask for a new battery and she will be fine. IMO, the 13 is the best looking of the lot, but the warranty and 6th gear are no brainers. I bought mine right away because I feared Honda would only bring the CB over for a single year since bikes like it are not big sellers in the US. RE: Used 2013 for $5,500 vs new 2014 for $7,000 - max - 06-17-2018 Something else to vector in is the valve-check at 8 or 12.000 miles, has that been done and how would you know? Not a deal breaker if you do it yourself but if it has to go back to the dealer it may add some extra expense? Is the dealer able/reliable/closeby for this sort of thing? Me i like red a lot but that is a personal taste thing but after seeing the 2018 pearl blue tank from samurider......... Bottom line; can't go wrong either way and a year later the price difference is forgotten. Used 2013 for $5,500 vs new 2014 for $7,000 - Capo - 06-17-2018 You can buy a red tank and other bodywork from Samurider. But the ‘13 with that mileage is proved too high. RE: Used 2013 for $5,500 vs new 2014 for $7,000 - FLYTYM_imp - 06-17-2018 I just got my new 2014 and I’m not concerned one bit about the bike sitting in a crate for the last four years. I am very disappointed in the dealer prep but that’s a different story.
