I agree with you except I think I would prefer the cbx-remake to stay air-cooled.

I would prefer that also but with today's emission regulations it would be an engineering impossibility I think. Keeping the CB1100 air cooled required that the motor run in a mild state of tune. Sandwiching two more cylinders into the in-line mix would require water cooling. A water cooled motor would be little or no wider than the CB1100. The "new" CBX could also be tuned for high output while meeting emission standards. Sadly, air cooled motors are on their way out.

Which is exactly why I love our CB1100. Sort of the last of it's kind.

Any audio on the Suzuki Water Buffalo?
or the RE5?

Great find, Ferret! As well as describing the Superbike 70s, it's a pretty good history lesson on how, by the end of the 70s, the Big Four Japanese manufacturers had converged on the basic UJM design.

And then almost completely abandoned it for sport/super sport bikes.

I saw an absolutely mint condition CBX at Newcombe's Ranch about two weeks ago.
Gorgeous bike. I couldn't stop staring at it.

Great find...loved it. Kawasaki's Z1 has got to be the most beautiful motorcycle ever produced. Absolutely perfect!

We just made a new film about the 250cc bikes from the time:

(And sorry about the sound on the GT, the radio mic we used packed up for that ride, so it had to be silent unfortunately)

cheers,

Cool video Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
I didn't come back to bikes until 1992 (quit in 1958) so missed that entire era.
I joined a vintage bike club in 1995 and it was only then did I start learning about all those great bikes - and many of them I see nearly every week on club rides.

I like this kind of thing, it's very educational. Sort of like explaining 2" tape.
