Thank you for the info. I was thinking 2500 rpm at 70mph would be perfect. In my humble opinion, you'd be lugging the motor at 2500 in high gear. I consider 3,000rpm to be absolute minimum high gear rpm for my 'big' V-Twin Guzzis. The CB1100 is a completely different animal, but it shares its love to rev with the Guzzis. 3000 is my minimum for 4th, 5th and 6th on my '17 EX. Chain tension is perfect but the adjusters are almost all the way back. I was wondering if this was the normal stock set up? Might want to verify the front sprocket is stock. If it had been replaced with one less tooth the chain would require that level of adjustment and perhaps that’s why it seems like you need to change the rear sprocket? I replaced my front sprocket and my adjusters are near the end. And the engine revs higher at highway speeds. The adjusters on the CB1100 work differently than any other chain drive bike I've owned. When I first looked at my CB I also thought the adjusters were all the way out. The adjuster bolt threads deeply into the swing arm, so instead of turning the bolt clockwise to tighten, it turns COUNTER clockwise. I bet you have plenty of adjustment left.
RE: Going up 1 on the front sprocket - DBM_imp - 08-21-2018 My axle is in the exact location as yours. I guess lm ok. Can l go down on my rear sprocket? RE: Going up 1 on the front sprocket - riggies_imp - 08-21-2018 Many of us have gone down one tooth from stock in the FRONT sprocket and had room to adjust. |
