Yea, even though I love riding my CB, I realize I have a bike made for riding in nasty weather that cost a lot of money, so that's the one I should ride when it's nasty (the work horse) and save the CB (the pleasure horse) for when the weather is nice. Not to say the CB doesn't get ridden in bad weather, (heck it gets ridden all year round) but when it gets in the 30's and below, with rain or snow I ride the FJR.
Headed out right now, temp is 38 degrees F, roads are wet from yesterday's rain, and it's supposed to rain again in 4 hours, so the workhorse gets the call.

I'm with GO... heated grips were never that much good as far as I'm concerned - the backs of my hands cold and the palms warm??
These new "wireless" heated gloves are the way to go (imho). All the advantages of heated gloves without the wiring hassles. And not a lot more money than heated grips , with no installation work. AND they move with you from 'bike to 'bike!
You wouldn't believe how easy it is to make your own heated gloves/clothing and SO cheap too. Use lengths of Constantan wire, connected to your battery...

It really is easy, Richard.
Use Constantan resistance wire. Measure out a length that, when connected to 12v, warms to the appropriate temperature. Thread these wires (probably four or five lengths will be enough - two sleeves, two on front/kidneys, one on back/shoulders/neck) through the lining of lightweight jacket/shirt, etc., and grip the ends together (they can't be soldered). Do the same with the other ends and connect to a switch and then the battery! Easy peasy!!
