Hi Rocky...just curious- you mention above you've travelled all thru that area- was it by motorcycle? and if so did you travel there by bike as well (from Halifax) as opposed to trailering your bike and riding it when you got there?
I'm thinking of a trip down that way in the not so distant future perhaps (and wondering about travelling down by bike or trailering).
thanks

Chapomis,I use to live in Waterbury(Groton now) and rode to the northwest cornor a lot. Frankly anywhere from around Watertown to the Ma. border and Danbury as the furthest south you can't miss. Try to make the vintage car meet at Lime Rock in the fall too. That is a great time.

I'm embarrassed to say that having lived in MA all my life that I had never been to that area until last fall when the mrs and I stayed in the area for a weekend, beautiful area for riding. Just north of there, over the VT border there are a few nice loops west of Brattleboro, next year.

Curlyjoe, give me a shout if you ever wander down to the Cape. What town are you in ?

My son lives in Newington (central CT). Any suggested loops ?

I live in Lexington, MA. We used to vacation on the cape every summer but when my daughter became a teenager, she no longer was interested. Sad

Our favorite place was the town of Eastham. Nauset Light Beach and Arnolds restaurant (fried clams and raw bar...mmmm) were our favorite hangouts.

If I ever make to the Cape on my bike, I'll let you know.

Unfortunately, my trips were never by bike. They were with my young family by station wagon in the beginning and years later with only my wife - again by car as my wife would not get on a bike.

Dang it rained hard. I do remember a ton of light blue Police cars picking off speeders left and right right when we crossed the border into Mass right past a little harbor town? (I believe that's when we saw them.)

RE: Summer ride in Western Massachusetts - the Ferret - 01-14-2016

tell you what you can barely get there Nhawk...BEEF! My wife and I went to 7 restaurants one night for dinner before I found one that served beef. They cooked me a hamburger while my wife had Lobster.

RE: Summer ride in Western Massachusetts - Chapomis_imp - 01-14-2016

Jeez, most places used to have kids menus and you could at least get a grilled cheese or spaghetti

RE: Summer ride in Western Massachusetts - the Ferret - 01-14-2016

Lol I have eaten off a lot of kids menus in my life. Grilled cheese would have been great. First place I ever saw a fish taco which made no sense to me at all at the time. i won't eat one but at least I know what they are now. My wife ate some in San Francisco last year. i had a cheeseburger. Sound familiar? Lol

Thank you, Ferret, for the expression 'toad strangler'. I don't think we have it down under, but we should.
