Alright guys, everyone knows that The ferret has his hands full around here. The majority of folks who visit this place are very appreciative of his tact and judgement. Please don't try to pick a fight with the man in charge.

So...to get this back on a more appropriate track.... Is the popping on decel either harmful to the engine or indicative of harm being done to the engine? If so, in what ways?

From what I have read, the pair valve was designed for epa requirements and the popping on decel is the pair valve doing its job. No harm, just some people do not like the sound when amplified by aftermarket exhaust. I have read on other forums that popping on decel on a carburated bike could indicate a lean condition, or is it a rich condition?. On EFI, the oxygen sensor analyzes the exhaust gasses for optimal fuel ratio and the ECM compensates by adjusting fuel injection pulse lengths and fuel timing. I may be wrong, but that is my understanding. Maybe some one with more factual knowledge can chime in.
