I was so exited when they announced CB1100F retro and could not wait to see it.
I went to Tokyo motor show in 2009 and came back very disappointed.
Did not like:
4-1 exhaust
Tiny seat
Side covers (shape & color)
Turn signals
Chain guard (cheap peace of plastic)

I understand that 2013 was not slam dunk, but if I could find this Japanese version I would buy it in a heart beat.

The 2014 EX is much closer to the retro image that we are missing today.
I think I will go for it.

If we were all the same, the world would be a boring place, LOL. Big Grin

The 2013 model is far from a failure, it is an excellent bike. I like the bike just the way it is.

I do not like spokes, (they look OK, but very high maintenance), try cleaning them.

I like the 4 into 1 better than the 4 into 2, (4 into 2 would not be a deal breaker for me). Most riders end up with a 4 into 1 at some point when modding the bike.

I like the modern seat much better than the bench seat of old.

Not sure what is wrong with the side covers or turn signals, to me they blend nicely with the lines of the bike.

Frankly, I did not notice the chain guard was made of plastic, didn't stand out.

I see the 2013 as a contemporary version of the old CB line, it does not need to be a carbon copy of the old bikes, but a modern, improved, (in my opinion), version of the older bikes.

This bike is what the designers intended it to be, and I, for one, feel that they achieved their goals.

Alas, to each his own. The really nice thing about the CB is, that you can make it what you want it to be, in my case, it will take very little modification, if any.

The only things on the 2014 that I might like to have are the instrument panel and gear indicator, but not enough to say I am in any way disappointed with the 2013 version.

Cheers, Beer

Here Here. Harumph!

If you watch the video where the designers discuss what they were trying to achieve with the bike, and then you own and ride the bike, there's no doubt they not only met, but exceeded their goals.

In particular the larger fuel tank, the 4 into 2 exhaust, and the gear indicator. I would not complain about the 6 th gear, but don't feel it necessary. I like the look of the spokes but prefer the mags. I understand the bars are 1" taller as well, which might be good.

When I was as my dealer Christmas eve, I asked about the new model. He had not heard of it, nor had he heard if Honda was going to have any 2014 CB 1100s. He did have a 2014 Full model range brochure and there was a CB1100 in it, but it was listed as a 2013 model in the brochure. Not sure what that means.

Regardless I am not dissapointed in the least in my 2013, and Zi am thrilled to have gotten it.

I agree with you, I would probably like that 6th gear too, as well as the instrument panel with the extra info and gear indicator. The 4 into 2 exhaust would not turn me away, although I like the 4 into 1 better, (I liked the old CB400 pipes).

I prefer the looks of the '13. Just my preference. This is not to say that I would not like the '14, it's an attractive bike, but the '13 fits me better.

At any rate, neither bike is a failure, and they can be modded in oh so many ways. Thumbs Up

Cheers

There are probably four or more ways they could have gone with this bike, the 2013 and the EX - and the Whitehouse versions being three that would probably sell very well to their respective audience.

RE: NEW 2014: CB 1100, CB 1100 EX - CA200_imp - 12-28-2013

I was just out on Cycle Trader .com and I see 341 CB11s listed.
I think Honda USA is just siting on it's hands until they sell a few more 2013s , maybe??

RE: NEW 2014: CB 1100, CB 1100 EX - rboe - 12-28-2013

341, to me, seems like a lot of bikes to for sale for a one year model. If I was a retailer I would not want any 2014's coming into the pipeline until that number had sold down a lot.

RE: NEW 2014: CB 1100, CB 1100 EX - davidsargee_imp - 12-28-2013

Was out for a ride today and stopped by my local dealer, the salesman is a friend of mine, I asked him about the 2014. He said, and I quote:

"Yes, there is definitely going to be a 2014 CB1100, we do not know what color we are getting, but we are getting one."

Take that for what it is worth, he is a friend of mine, and I have no reason not to believe him.

Cheers

Huh… My dealer has two… When I picked my bike up (about a week after I bought it) the salesman said he was told they would not get anymore 2013 CB's to replace the bike I bought. I guess nobody knows what's going on for sure

RE: NEW 2014: CB 1100, CB 1100 EX - davidsargee_imp - 12-28-2013

My dealer has one, they have sold several, and the one he has now came from another dealer.

Like I said, take it for what it's worth, I'm not in the market for a '14 model and my friend knows it. No reason to pull my leg. He seemed very sure of what he said.

Interesting, I would love to have spokes and 4 into 2 pipes. However, I love my red 13, Guess we'll see what happens. My bet is they ( Honda ) will import 2014's Dealers sold most of the 13's i.e. pipeline is empty to dealers. As far as consumers, That, we will have to wait and see. I think most of the guys ( like us ) who like the CB1100 have already bought one. I don't see young guys buying a CB1100, and not that many of us old guys left.

RE: NEW 2014: CB 1100, CB 1100 EX - OldF7Guy_imp - 12-31-2013

I was in another dealer today in a small town nearby that I had completely forgot about. Anyway, I walked in and it was wall to wall with atv's and side by sides. Not a single motorcycle in the place and the owner told me he never wanted to see one. Evidently, he was one of the few that was able to sell Honda atv's and nothing else.
