RE: How to do your own 600 mile service - buttaknife_imp - 03-16-2015 Hi all! Almost done 1000 km on the new cb and need to do my first check, oil, filter, etc... Emailed my Italian dealer who said I must take it to a honda dealer or risk voiding my warranty... I'm upset as working on bikes is one of the best things about owning them. RE: How to do your own 600 mile service - the Ferret - 03-16-2015 Buuta..in the US they cannot void your warranty as long as a competent person does the work and saves receipt and mileage records. Not sure how it works in Italy but you might want to ask someone other than the dealer. How to do your own 600 mile service - Cormanus - 03-16-2015 In Australia the work has to be performed by a qualified mechanic, but not necessarily at the dealer. Dealers always say you have to take it back to them. It's not true. That may not be the same in Italy. Do you have consumer protection laws? Check with the authority that administers them. RE: How to do your own 600 mile service - buttaknife_imp - 03-16-2015 Grazie... I checked with a guy I know that runs a motorcycle tour company and he confirmed that the service must be done by honda. How to do your own 600 mile service - Cormanus - 03-16-2015 It's worth getting Honda to do it while the bike is still under warranty. There'll be plenty of time, Buttaknife. RE: How to do your own 600 mile service - buttaknife_imp - 03-18-2015 So now I know why honda wants the service done at honda...€160! For an oil change! I literally feel violated... Never doing that again. RE: How to do your own 600 mile service - Delphisa - 03-25-2015 Hello, I wanted to thank Ferret for that thread... Last week-end I made oil change at 2 years and I found this clear description of the first service was quite interesting before doing the job. First service of my bike was made by my Honda retailer, one year ago, because here in France, like in Italy, we have 2 years warranty that could be void if not doing the service in the Honda service network. Now I will do myself this kind of simple maintenance operations. Jean-Pierre RE: How to do your own 600 mile service - metalmaven_imp - 04-16-2015 Thanks Ferret, I will be doing my 600 mile service this weekend following your instructions! RE: How to do your own 600 mile service - metalmaven_imp - 04-17-2015 Just finished my 600 mile service! Was easy, except the oil filter. It was on so tight from factory, had to stab it to get it off.. Other than that, went great. Thanks Ferret! Now the official test drive! RE: How to do your own 600 mile service - Scoobynut_imp - 04-17-2015 Hey Metalmaven, check the last post on Chip's Aluminum 2014 Sprocket cover thread...you up for it? My apologies for the thread drift! |
