C'mon man... No more holding out! Post up brother! With this long relationship and purchases track I say you do get treated differently, otherwise you would not be a returning customer. You are right when you say numbers are just numbers and in this case would do us no good. I can't tell my dealer "ferret got a better deal" and expect them to match it. Not sure that conversation will end up in my favor. I just remember you saying on another thread that you would not sell your CB for $6k, so I was curious to find out if you got a good deal and obviously you did. In my case; and to clarify what I said before on another thread; I was quoted $6-$6.5 by a Victory dealer and not a Honda dealer. I visited my local Honda shop and they had a used Victoy Judge on their floor, but they don't give test rides as they have been sued before. I asked for a trade in value for my CB and they quoted me $5.1-$5.7 by the sales floor manager. One of the sales guy told me he used to work at Stpetepowersports and they offer test rides because it brings in a lot of sales and they have not been sued. So off I went and sure enough they prepared a brand new bike for me to test. I was very pleased with the torque and performance of the bike, especially on the highway. The Manager of the store (Dan) told me he can give me between $6-$6.5 because a lot of his customers buy Bonneville and it is a similar bike. At the end I couldn't part with the CB, but I am willing to for a new and improved CB. Anyhow, thanks for answering gheil's question and pardon me for butting in on your conversation. This is important to me as I weigh in my options on how to approach it, just as many others here are. But....DARN IT, I love that 4 into 2 exhaust! With the right side hidden by the sidecar, the 4 into 2 would look great! I can only imagine how much a 4 into 2 would cost. Why doesn't Honda allow special orders, since all of these parts are available? I hate these kind of temptations! Don't frett, Buffalohead, someone will pull the 4-2 off their DLX and replace it with a lighter, louder system. RE: 2014 CB1100 Now On Honda's Website! - Deanohh_imp - 02-07-2014 For the "vintage" look, wouldn't 4 into 4 be the way to go? I don't get what's the big deal with 4 -2. But certainly someone will take off the 4-2 and replace it with, I don't know, maybe a cool lighter weight 4 into 1. RE: 2014 CB1100 Now On Honda's Website! - Red Mist_imp - 02-07-2014 It is quite fascinating to see how many posts there are from owners of the current 2013 model who are champing at the bit to get the latest 2014. From my POV, I just cannot find anything flawed in the visual of the 2013 US model. The guy who designed it took his time and had a free hand, and in my view he got the classic styling cues just right. The polished aluminum case and valve covers contrast with the dark gunmetal gray of the engine to really set it off as the centerpiece of the bike, but not in an overstated way. It's less money to manufacture a completely blacked-out engine, so those details are a result of extra work put into the bike. Same for the 4-into-1 exhaust. That's polished stainless steel. Mine's getting this lovely saffron sheen after a couple of thousand miles, characteristic of stainless steel. It'll never rust or corrode, either, unlike chrome. The dual exhausts are going to be a bit heavier and certainly can't help with performance; they're chromed, which in time may flake, rust, or just get chipped off. That's a visual only, no advantage or performance increase at all. Higher bars? I was thinking of going to the lower, Japanese-spec option, if anything. I've gotten used to the stock bars, higher than anything else in my garage except the BMW. So they'll stay put. Nothing's going to change on my 2013. Different isn't always better, it's just different. I think they got the 2013 as "right" as it could be gotten. They're now going for a alternative styling, and that strikes a sympathetic note with many riders. But let's just not throw the baby out with the bathwater here. I'm sure you're right but I'll bet there will be so many '13 and black '14 owners wanting them, the fight will be on! Tink, the more I thought about it, the more I don't think I can live with the blacked out model. I could live with the engine and change out the turn signals. If I could have those beautiful silver wheels, then the standard would be OK. But, the 4 into 2 exhaust is the final determining factor. If it wasn't for that, I would try to powdercoat the wheels or something. It's still the smart thing to do, but that 4 into 2.... RE: 2014 CB1100 Now On Honda's Website! - flynrider - 02-07-2014 I'm also thinking that there will be some stock 4 into 2 pipe sets available after the '14s have been out for awhile. It's almost a UJM tradition to ditch stock multi-pipes for a 4 into 1. It's what made MAC, Yoshimura, V&H and Kerker famous. I think that's one of the reasons Honda went with a 4 into 1 on the original CB11. If I knew for sure I could snatch some up, I would consider the Standard with bright powder coated wheels, although I would still prefer a black painter DLX. From the Honda Powersports website for the 2013 CB11 (on the "Innovations" page) - "The CB1100’s four-into-one pipe gives this bike a crisp sound, and the chrome finish is a great highlight, too." Not saying that you're wrong. If it is, in fact, a SS exhaust, I was not aware of it.
