RE: K&N Oil Filters BEWARE!!! - pdedse - 01-05-2020 Not going to research it, but IIRC those CB1100 owners who had catestrophic oil seepage with KN filter were positve of correct installation. RE: K&N Oil Filters BEWARE!!! - Houtman_imp - 01-05-2020 I never had any leakage from Honda oil filters over 50 years of having Honda motorcycles. If only I could say the same about my bladder.... RE: K&N Oil Filters BEWARE!!! - LongRanger_imp - 01-05-2020 Good grief. RE: K&N Oil Filters BEWARE!!! - Chuckk_imp - 01-06-2020 . I like the socket type, rather than the strap.. I have ended up with both types.. lots of them, actually .. having the right tool makes life so much easier.. RE: K&N Oil Filters BEWARE!!! - the Ferret - 01-06-2020 OEM filterless than $10 from Partzilla (but you'd have to add shipping) https://www.partzilla.com/product/honda/15410-MFJ-D01?gclid=CjwKCAiA0svwBRBhEiwAHqKjFtBg7zBNlr7i4Gen4VwCsw-JeaIS2WehmdcC06iQBsQYI8RlC0TA0xoC3MUQAvD_BwE $11.51 at Revzilla and free shipping over $49 I think https://www.partzilla.com/product/honda/15410-MFJ-D01?gclid=CjwKCAiA0svwBRBhEiwAHqKjFtBg7zBNlr7i4Gen4VwCsw-JeaIS2WehmdcC06iQBsQYI8RlC0TA0xoC3MUQAvD_BwE RE: K&N Oil Filters BEWARE!!! - Bheezy27403_imp - 01-06-2020 Agreed. There is a thread on Triumphrat about K&N filters failing. One forum thread is all I need to know not to by the product let alone two! OEM for me. Plus I go to the shop to get one so I can kick tires and look at bikes. RE: K&N Oil Filters BEWARE!!! - Houtman_imp - 01-06-2020 I buy my Honda OEM oil filters six at the time , use 3 a year and they will not go bad in storage. Often I order a few other things at the same time and get free shipping. Filter than often less than $ 10 a piece. RE: K&N Oil Filters BEWARE!!! - Olyrider - 01-06-2020 Hondabikes.com sells the filters for $8.75 Crush washers for 50 cents. Trusted local dealer here in the PNW. While looking for the filter, I stumbled upon the stripe decals for the fuel tank. A little spendy at $24 per side, but much less than painting. I plan on changing colors on my 2013, so finding the decals was a blessing. RE: K&N Oil Filters BEWARE!!! - GoldOxide_imp - 01-06-2020 So far I have found the OEM oil filter gasket to be a superior design compared to the ones I have seen on non-OEM (e.g. Fram). So (+1) for using OEM for at least that reason. The internal release mechanism appears metal on the OEM, and plastic on audited non-OEM. |
