RE: CB1100 Monthly Photo Challenge - the Ferret - 07-01-2018 Good going MTC and use2be use2be we expressed that same sentiment in the size-weight thread RE: CB1100 Monthly Photo Challenge - zbillster_imp - 07-01-2018 Took this yesterday ... you can just make out the "Welcome to Bowie" in the background, near the bottom of the flagpole ... Seriously, how can anyone beat that photo? That is awesome. Seriously, how can anyone beat that photo? That is awesome. Eh, I could have staged it better ... I didn't get the topic of this week's contest till I got home this afternoon ... had several missed opportunities from this weekend's road trip. RE: CB1100 Monthly Photo Challenge - emptysea - 07-01-2018 The great thing about this thread is that there's no limit to the number of submissions a person can post. RockHop came up with a gem of a topic for July...Can't wait to see the pictures from towns all over the world.
RE: CB1100 Monthly Photo Challenge - zbillster_imp - 07-01-2018 Every time I buy a vehicle, my first stop is for a photo in Van Alstyne and then east on 121 (the small one, not the big one) to Tom Bean/Whitewright. RE: CB1100 Monthly Photo Challenge - Cormanus - 07-01-2018 Since I can't win this month, I'm going to cheat. A bit. Here's a couple from a recent ride. This Pomona is an almost non-existent town just north of the New South Wales-Victorian border. I lived in (slightly) larger town of the same name 1800+ kms away in the Sunshine Coast hinterland in Queensland. ![]() Coombah is not really a town but a roadhouse about midway between Broken Hill and Mildura in far western New South Wales.
RE: CB1100 Monthly Photo Challenge - cookiemech - 07-02-2018 I can't compete with Bowie, Texas . . . But I did go for a ride today with my camera and stopped at three small towns in Washington County, Pennsylvania. First was Cokeburg, a tiny place with a lovely overhead sign. Trouble was that I had difficulty framing the picture so that the town name could be read. Yes, I could have parked (on the road, unfortunately; no pulloff) on the other side, but that would have obstructed traffic more than I was already doing. At least where I was parked, I was not interfering with Cokeburg traffic pulling out onto the main road. Next I dropped down to the Monongahela River near Fredericktown. On Route 88 there is a sign showing the road to Vestaburg. On the way back up Route 88, I stopped in West Brownsville to shoot their sign. Lovely church behind it. And the old Route 40 bridge is nearby and leads to (are you ready?) Brownsville. RE: CB1100 Monthly Photo Challenge - use2b_imp - 07-02-2018 some great photo's guys and big knives always get my attention ..... RE: CB1100 Monthly Photo Challenge - RockHop_imp - 07-05-2018 No signs at the city limits, but Slaton TX has a large mural just off the town square. The railroad history is prominent with the train and the Harvey House. Locomotive 1809, the "Cotton Special", delivered cotton from the area to the Gulf ports in Houston and is on display in the town square. <click to enlarge>
