RE: What did you do on or to your other bike part 2 - Nachodaddy - 08-05-2026 Seems like a good basis for a "Twilight Zone" episode. I just hope it didn’t hit the car behind me and take out a headlight. (08-05-2026, 04:36 PM)Nachodaddy Wrote: Seems like a good basis for a "Twilight Zone" episode. Mrs. G thinks maybe it was a prophecy and that perhaps I should leave the baffles out. I feel like taking him more shoes to see what else he has to say. RE: What did you do on or to your other bike part 2 - Gone in 60 - 08-06-2026 This is getting interesting. Where I heard my bike get louder is on a very particular stretch of The 405 South that the boss rides on the way to his office. Half-joking, I texted him to look out for a chunk of metal on the freeway and that my baffle fell out. He replied back that he saw it on the shoulder this morning. I’ll be on that section later this afternoon on my way home. I don’t know if he’s pulling my leg or not, but I’ll keep my eyes peeled for it. RE: What did you do on or to your other bike part 2 - the Ferret - 08-06-2026 took a ride out to Wilmington Oh and Washington Court House Ohio and got some mural pics ![]() ![]()
RE: What did you do on or to your other bike part 2 - Gone in 60 - 08-06-2026 Those are cool! Did some urban hiking Saturday and saw lots of LA murals to back and photo with my bike. Not all of them are graffiti. RE: What did you do on or to your other bike part 2 - the Ferret - 08-06-2026 I love big murals like that. Amazing stuff. RE: What did you do on or to your other bike part 2 - Cormanus - 08-06-2026 Me too. They like to paint them on silos in Outback Australia. RE: What did you do on or to your other bike part 2 - LucienLeFranc - 08-06-2026 We just got a new mural--actually the last brush strokes are still being applied as I type--about 100 yards from the house. Murals sound like a good monthly challenge sometime soon? Murals it is for the August challenge! RE: What did you do on or to your other bike part 2 - Gone in 60 - 08-07-2026 Well, guess it was pretty ridiculous to think that I'd be able to spot a brownish eight-inch metal tube sitting on the side of the freeway among the other random debris, but I did give it a try. I was lucky to have a slow-moving box van in the left lane of the 405 and the 22 on my way home yesterday moving at a steady 60 mph, so I tucked in behind it and scanned the shoulder for my missing baffle. No luck. Last night after dinner, Mrs. G was planning a long Zoom call with relatives, and I wanted to get out for a ride. Being a summer evening all of our windows were open, so I asked her to listen closely as I pulled away on the brappy non-baffled Interceptor and when I came back. I kept the revs low on our cul-de-sac as I pulled away and enjoyed a nice evening ride in the cool air. I was enjoying the sound and thought maybe it wasn't as annoying as I was making it out to be. When I got back, I sat in front of the house for a bit while the garage door opened and pulled in. Mrs. G shrugged and said she didn't think the bike was any louder than normal, so maybe I'll put the new baffles on the shelf for a bit and enjoy the sound. In any case, it's not as loud as the neighbor kid's old Dodge truck that has Flowmasters and the squeakiest suspension I've ever heard... and comes home from work around midnight. |
