For you BMW R90S fans - LongRanger_imp - 03-24-2016 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Clw64ntcIVo RE: For you BMW R90S fans - redbirds_imp - 03-24-2016 Love those old air heads. A coworker years back had two R90S Bimmers, one in smoke black and one like the video. Thanks for the link. RE: For you BMW R90S fans - the Ferret - 03-24-2016 Love looking at those old Beemers, never cared for riding them. Wife and I test rode one just like in the video, bought a Kawasaki KZ 1000 instead. RE: For you BMW R90S fans - 4 Paws_imp - 03-25-2016 Really enjoy the thought of owning an older airhead or a flying brick. Might give in to temptation. On my first solo long distance ride I was in WVA fueling up my ST1100 when a couple on matching new airheads pulled up beside me. During our conversation he (both were doctors!) said he wished he had bought the ST but others had pushed them to the BMW's. Made my day. RE: For you BMW R90S fans - Django - 03-25-2016 Thanks for posting this link. This was a German instructional movie made by BMW. We happened to see it, when we were around 16 years old and we were really impressed by that rider, e.g. how he turned his bike in the garage on the main stand. Looking back now, this full leather suit had really an awefull color... With such a R90S in the seventies, you were really king of the road. There were only very few cars on the road, which could compete in acceleration or top speed. RE: For you BMW R90S fans - Chapomis_imp - 03-25-2016 Great video, interesting captioning RE: For you BMW R90S fans - redbirds_imp - 03-25-2016 (03-25-2016, 01:00 AM)Django_imp Wrote: Thanks for posting this link. Those BMW's had the best designed center stands ever. My R75 was so easy to place on the stand a child could do it. The stand was also located at the balance point allowing the removal of either wheel and the bike would rest on the mounted wheel. A blessing when repairing a roadside puncture on the front. RE: For you BMW R90S fans - the Ferret - 03-25-2016 That WAS a great feature redbirds. Impressive and smart engineering. RE: For you BMW R90S fans - Chapomis_imp - 03-25-2016 I liked that center stand spin, wonder if I could pull that off with an R1200RT ... ? Anyone know what the R90S weighed ? RE: For you BMW R90S fans - redbirds_imp - 03-25-2016 473lbs wet. About the same as an R75. |
