Lee Parks Total Control Advanced Riding Clinic - redReno_imp - 07-14-2014

Took this course last week while I still had the CB1000R

A great course! I got the opportunity to do it for free, but I would say it is well worth the money if the course is available to you. I would have been stuck riding the same for years, not improving at all if it wasn't for this course.

Went and did level 1 & 2 as well as the suspension clinic.

Some stuff they teach was simple but difficult to practice, like trail braking. It was really difficult for me to do it with the front brake, but by the end of the day I had it down and I love doing it now.
Still need to work on the speed up/down shifts and plenty more stuff.

Really it was just about improving your skill, but more being able to recognize what you are doing wrong and being able to fix it or work on it.
They also almost preached to not get down on yourself when making mistakes, AND to not take all the credit when you do good, because it's really the bike doing all the work, your just letting it do it's thing.

Here are some pics, wasn't on a track so we were just going around cones.

Cool. He has a school set up near me and I've been thinking about signing up. Good pics.

Lucky man. Some say that Parks has unlocked the "Code". In any case if he was in range for me I'd do it just for the hell of it. You can never stop learning.

Cheers

Looks like great thing to do with a day or two of you're life.

An irrelevant curiosity: In Australia the front indicator lights are not on all the time; they come on only when you turn them on to indicate.

I took Lee's course two years ago and was very impressed with some of the "new" techniques I learned. I have been riding for 39 years but still try to improve my riding skills.

Nice and interesting thread !

Technically, it does not belong to the forum because it has nothing to do with the CB1100, so it does not belong here.
Is there some way we can accommodate things like this ?
Maybe we can have a list of 'acceptable non-CB1100 subject matter', or maybe a list of 'unacceptable subject matters', like politics for example.

Now that we have an external forum sponsor, wouldn't we want to encourage more *productive* traffic on the site ?

Just something to consider...

Crud, I didn't look hard enough the first time. I just noticed "Motocycling-General" under "Other stuff".
This thread probably should go there. Maybe the admins can move it?

My understanding is that, except for the 'non-CB1100 motorcycle' category, there are to be no non-CB1100 related posts on the forum. This thread is not about another motorcycle, it is about the riding school experience. It has no place on this forum AFAIK.

I'll be most happy to be shown that I'm mistaken, by the way !

The section "Other Stuff>Motorcycling-General" is surely designed for this sort of discussion.

I think you're right. That's a bit reassuring !
