Lorenzo 1st in free practice 2 followed by Marquez and the 2 Ducatis. Suzuki 5th. VR had some issues finishing in 9th.

Val knows the only times that count are on the last lap of the race. Race pace, tire choice and strategy are everything.

Young French rookie Quartararo picked up his first Moto3 pole. Danny Kent has been running away with things so far in that series.
Meanwhile Alec Marguez in Moto2 and Jack Miller in MotoGP have been slow out of the gate. Understandable for Jack who went straight to the big leagues.
Can't wait to see how MotoGP qualifying sorts out. MM reported a lot of pain in his pinkie yesterday

BTW race is on Fox Sports 1 ch 219 on Direct TV with prerace coverage starting at 7:30 and race from 8:00 to 9:00 AM (check your listings)

It is worth keeping a close look at Quartararo. He has thoroughly impressed me so far. Before the season began I was reading a fair bit about him, but was afraid it was a lot of French hype. Well he has more than lived up to the hype so far! The kid started the season at 15 years, having received a special permission to ride in Moto3 not being 16 yet. Now for the Jerez race he has just turned 16 though. However, the first races have been on tracks that he has never seen before given that his racing so far has been in the Spanish championship. In the three races he has been up front showing an extraordinary maturity in his race craft. That he was fast was not surprising, but to me it is the way he has been a thinking racer who is ot afraid to rough it up a bit in the very competitive Moto3 category.
When Fenati started out he gave me a similar impression, but unfortunately this year he seems to be far from it. Let's hope Quartararo continues to impress. He certainly knows Jerez as a track, the first so far this season, and I would not be surprised if he follows up his pole with a win.
