Somehow, my life seems empty and meaningless now. I'm not sure that i even want to get her out of the garage to expose my inadequate naked knobs.

They're your knobs. Do what you want with them. But paint does not an RLET make. Hang the expense: spend £6 or £7 and get with the program!

I'm thinking there must be a very special aromatic injection mold release lubricant infused in these rubber knob thingies that has a secretly known side effect to the prefrontal brain lobes of riders that was discovered by the manufacturer

£6 or £7 you say? ... Not sure I can justify that kind of wild extravagance. No, it's the black paint and ride like heck so no one gets close enough to see the difference. I may just tuck a prophylactic under the seat to waft the authentic rubber smell as I flash past.

You could acquire a black prophylactic or two and use them on the levers. Save you getting paint all over the place.
