The CB1100 Community Forum

I've been keeping my eye on Staintune as I'm interested in their upcoming "Retro-Styled Sport Mufflers" for my Deluxe but it seems to be just a rumor at this point and nobody knows if they are days, weeks, or months away from being available. So, in the meantime, I'm wondering what other options exist that retain the overall look of the factory pipes with a bit more "growl". I did some Googling on the subject and came up empty. There seem to be options out there but I couldn't find anything that I thought would look grossly modern and out-of-place on this bike.

Any suggestions?

Edit: One other thing... I'm NOT willing to give up my center-stand.

Boy, this is a toughy. The 4 into 4 offered by Samurider looks great, but eliminates the center stand.

Funny thing about most stock exhausts, they're way too quite. My rune was no exception. At the time; only Rivco made an alternative, but I didn't like it. The other option was to do as many did... drill a 3/4"- 1 1/2" hole in the bottom. Wasn't going to do that either, so ended up pulling the exhaust/mufflers. Welded up a jig to weld it back together after cutting the mufflers apart. I know... seems drastic, but after rebaffleing the mufflers (less restrictive); they sound great. Rumbles at idle, but not too loud. Get on the throttle and it sounds like a Ferrari.

Long story short, if you're okay with the looks of the stock mufflers; make them your own. You'll have a unique exhaust that looks stock.

Slip-on exhausts for the Deluxe as about as common as plug and play backrests for the CB1100.

At this time in CB ownership, I don't care about slip-ons for the DLX, other than making respective owners happy but for God's Sakes why isn't there a plug & play backrest for the 2013 1100????
I bought my CB a year ago January and am still baffled (sorry about the pun ), that there isn't a combo luggage rack/short back rest available for the CB.
Of course I could complain about Kerker/V&H not making a 4-into-1 for our bikes as well. I'm certain there are more than a couple of us that would pay asking price for an exhaust that looks like this..................

I'm trying to modify my factory muffler. I'm not picturing what you are describing about a jig, cutting apart....do you mean cut length wise on two sides cutting into two pieces? Do you have any pictures or links?

I think that Razor was describing how he modified the Rune exhaust, not his CB1100.

If you do a search there was someone who modified the CB1100 exhaust and posted pictures. Usually it is as simple as using a bi-metal hole saw on an extension and cutting out baffle plates from one or both ends of the muffler.

However, I would suggest getting a spare stock muffler first, in case things go badly wrong or you don't like the results.

Looking at many threads here we'll have to do the R&D for the aftermarket and help ourselves. One used a HD rack/back rest with very nice looking home made brackets, and another used a Shadow combo from ebay and made it work. I'd love a system from Supertrapp, Kerker, V&H, etc. Do any aftermarket look at our forum? There is obvious great need and opportunity in the retro trends.

I know the Italian manufacturer QD makes a nice set of slip-ons for the EX/DLX. I am no sure if they are available in the US, but here in Switzerland we can get them.
