Not a problem at all, popgun, glad to share so that others know what to expect.
Mine was $600. His base price is $550, with what is considered pretty basic graphics like mine. The Honda candy paint (he kept my side cover to color-match to) cost $80 more than his normal paint costs, but he graciously only passed on an additional $50 to me, totaling $600 for my job.
He really specializes in painting bikes, and has done some amazing show bikes, and he normally does custom racing helmets with the wild graphics - often a dozen or more layers of designs and different colored paints. Those start at around $600, and go up from there, depending on how complicated things are. I've seen a few in person, and they are phenomenal!
He's super easy to work with, and will even give you input about things that might work better, or even look better, which was obviously great help for a first-timer like me. As I mentioned earlier, this was one of the few things I've done that actually came out better looking than what I'd pictured in my head!
He was close by to me, being just a few blocks from our place at the beach, but he does work for people all over the country. I know he'd be able to figure things out over the phone with anyone who wanted something done. He's so good that if I didn't live locally, I know that I'd still send him my helmet, even if I had other painters available locally!
