Thanks, I've reconsidered. I like your solution better. It is what I used to do anyway and I do think it will look better too. Did you get the black or high vis yellow? Any reason you didn't get the large size?

Regarding size, the Cortech's saddle bags are 36L ea (72 together) & the Tail is 14L or 24L. Their combined volume would be 96Liters. The Wolfman medium dry duffle is 40L & the large is 47, so it is apx 1/2 the volume, but you can stack them too - 1 med & 1 Large = 87L (almost the same). You could add a small and add another 33Liters to end up at 120L!

Ah, I just eye balled it and my bag looked bigger.

I bought the medium as I needed to hold tent and my sleeping pad in one bag - the medium fit the bill. It was originally bought for the Griso at last years National Rally and it was to go across the bike - I also wanted to limit just how wide it could go and some what limit how much mass would be put in it. Over loaded it could affect handling in a bad way.

I got black, mainly because I got the Giant Loop in yellow, and after getting it, think black would have been a better choice. My motivation for the color.

It works so well I've been tempted to get a second one and hang them off like bags (on the Griso anyway).

Anyway, for long weekends when I hotel it, tanks bag and the duffle are plenty. Tenting, then the duffle gets the big stuff and I use saddlebags for the usual stuff and my sleeping bag. Still, a second bag is not a bad idea.

I came across another called the SW-MOTECH 600 60L Roll-Top Hi-Viz Dry Bag at revzilla (http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/sw-mo...-dry-bag). As its name implies, it is a 60 liter for less ($124) than the 47L large Wolfman ($138). The drybag 600 only comes in 1 size (really big) vs the wolfman 3 sizes (33L, 40L, 47L). For all, does anyone know of any significant differences?

I do not know what type of support either has on the bottom, but I may add a thin (1/4" to 1/2")piece of starboard (think of as plastic sheet metal) on the bottom if I go across the rear rack vs on the seat and rack.

Can't tell the difference to the other brand, however, I've been using a sw-motech 350 drybag since last year and I really like it

I used it on a SaddleSore 1000 ride thru a lot of rain (2/3 of the distance) and it was completely dry inside. The design of the belts to fix that beast to the bike is well done. It does not stress the canvas material.

I also had a look at the 600, but decided, it's too large to me. 35 liter is enough for a week and more for me.

Thanks Django. I did not know there was a 35L version. Apparently, Mozilla's website has drop downs for the different size wolfman bags, but lists the sw-motech bags separately. I'll search again.

popgun, I haven't been around long enough to know all of the inside jokes yet. I was just trying to assist as others have for me. This is a great bunch of Gentlemen from my limited engagement. It took me a while to figure that one out. I thought he may have been having trouble. If I had programmed (in a former life) it would have been available as an option when you clicked on your ID in the upper left vs. clicking on a different area (User CP - Log Out).

BTW, as you did, If I don't think the post I'm replying needs to be included in my post, I will remove the coding to save DASD & forum space.

I wasn't getting on you. He has suckered a few people with that line It is an inside joke though. I think it started with a new member that is not computer literate and had a LOT of trouble getting a sig line

I didn't remove the coding though, even though I have to shorten replies sometimes. I just click on New Reply so I have access to the smileys The regular reply doesn't have smileys.

There are several high end makers of dry duffles; I think I went with the most reasonable priced one at the time. I also knew the Wolfman line pretty good so being a known quantity also played a large role.
SW-Motech makes good stuff. There was another brand I was keen on but it was Europe only at the time (I forget the brand).

I was also going off the dimensions of my tent and sleeping pad and the Wolfman was a good fit where others were so-so. Other brands also didn't have straps for tying thing to or on.

In any event, lot's of good stuff out there. Find one that fits YOUR needs and you'll be good.
