I have been all through the forums and it looks like rear racks are thin on the ground for the cb1100. I am trying to figure out how to do that and have side cases or side soft luggage without losing the pillion.
I will keep pouring through the forums. In the mean time, if anyone has any ideas that will accomplish the above, I would be grateful to learn of them. Gee whiz, the stuff on twisted throttle is a bazillion dollars.

I have a Corbin saddle with a back rest for pillion. I have a rear rack. Here's my T-Bag setup for longer distances. Several companies make similar bags. And you don't need to move the rear signals.
Keep checking this forum and ebay for racks and bags. I bought my Honda rack from a member here for way less $ than new. I got my bag on ebay. The bag was discontinued, so I paid about a fourth of list. And it was brand new.

Oh cool. That looks like the simple answer. Which Corbin seat is it, or is it sort of a made-to-order thing? Does the Corbin seat lower the driver down ?
Oh and what rack? Is that the adapted rack I saw somewhere else on the forums ?

Seat: Corbin is a made-to-order place. While the basic design is standard, you can get different cover materials and different colored piping and stitching. You can order with or without a backrest. You can also specify (within about an inch) the amount of foam in the seat. I got mine with extra foam to raise me up a bit. A few other manufacturers make custom seats for the CB1100.
Rack: You can occasionally find the Honda OEM rack for sale by forum members or on ebay. You can also order it new. There are other manufacturers who make rear racks for the CB1100, some of them specifically designed for a top box and to fit with side racks and panniers. Samurider (a forum sponsor) sells an OEM rack and top box combo with a built-in backrest. He's in Japan so it takes a while and the shipping is pricey. His products are all excellent quality. They're also a bit expensive with the current exchange rate.
Bags: Do a google image search for "motorcycle t-bag." You'll find a bunch of different sizes/configurations from several manufacturers at different price points. Find what you like, then go to ebay

To me, this looks like something that does not have the required strength. How much mass is one supposed to safely load into something like that?

I have packed it full with normal suitcase stuff--clothes, toiletries, etc. for a three-day trip. To be honest, I've never used the top roll with a sleeping bag.
It rides just fine. It's supported by the seat rest on one side, the rack underneath, and tie down straps. I'm a little skeptical about its "water resistant" assurance, so I pack everything in large Ziploc bags. Haven't ridden through a rainstorm with it, yet.
