I may be interested in purchasing Hurricane engine guards for my 2014 Standard; however, I’m concerned about their effectiveness, overall design, and safety.

A set of SW-Motech guards from Twisted Throttle is $219 and their shipping is lightning fast, plus you'll get $11 in bonus points if you ever buy anything from them again, bringing the cost to $208. To my eye, the SW-Motech guards are easily worth the extra $78. I have them and I think they look way stronger than the Hurricanes you are looking at.

I had the Hurricane guards on my 2013, then moved them on my 2017. Quite substantial pieces with a nice black finish that exactly matches the frame color, which makes them look OEM. Attach to the engine mount bolts only, so no third strappy part on the bottom. Quite a good alternative to the Honda or Motech items (which are also nice); setting aside the better price, I still prefer these for their more minimalist look. Perhaps less protection from low fixed objects tho. Never had to test them in a tip-over or get-off.
I thing the black OEM guards look the best. They might be more expensive, but you'll forget about how much you paid for them in one or two weeks... and they'll stay forever

For me, it was cheaper to have them delivered by samurider than buying them at the local Honda dealer (even with customs&delivery costs).
