One concern is the gap of the swing arm, if it's large enough for the RS rim, as the tire is 180.

I just did some checking and the 17 EX and the 17 RS use the same swingarm.

you are correct Desert, i checked on those though, they don't have super significant weight savings over the OEM wheels. maybe just a little. I'd much rather get the galeforce Magnesium wheels. the pair is about $2500.

I don’t blame you, when I bought my new ZRX1100 in 1999 my first mod was a set of Gold Magnesium Dymags.....that huge 190 on the rear looked awesome
wouldn't going that wide affect your handling a great deal though? the stock wheel is 140, i use a 160 tire, i don't know if i need to go up all that high, unless i'm wrong and that would improve my handling a great deal.

Well the ZRX1100 came stock with a 5”x17” rear rim with 170/17 tire....The 190 required a 6” rim....it only required a slight amount more pressure on the bars in the corners....the CB1100RS comes with a 120/70/17 mounted on a 3.5x17 rim and a 180/55/17 mounted on a 5.5x 17......should handle great and look great on your bike
thanks a lot for that measurement PKrich. now i have a much better idea of what i'm shooting for If i want to use wheels made for the RS. The mod will definitely have to come with a new swingarm.
aftermarket wheels are still up in the air though. Going to have to keep my eyes open.
don't know if front wheel is the same between ex and rs has different forks bigger diameter and radial mounted calipers
EX front wheel is 110/80-R18 while RS is 120/70-R17. Caliper mount is different too.
