I used the '17 plastic part of the rear fender for a cleaner look too.

If you look at a '17 compared to previous models the plastic part of the rear fender fits closer to the frame and gives more space around the rear wheel. It's about an 1" to 2" but visually it looks far neater to me. It's a straight fit but you have to make a small cut out for the seat lock. The part costs about £60 in the UK. Not inexpensive but worth it if your a pedantic, nit picker ;-)

Thumbs Up

You know? - with a slight "flip" of innovation, that rear end would be productive on the Ontario 407 freeway.

..can use eavesdropConfused
I’m sorry but what on earth are y’all talking about ?
Heh, um, sorry Daniel ... not sure what PB meant by the "eavesdrop".

The rear end is so simple that the license plate can be folded under the seat, maybe with a pull wire, maybe just reach back by hand. Some riders actually do this on sport bikes. This helps them avoid being scanned by cameras on electronic toll highways. This is not suggested, but some nevertheless do it. 407 toll rate can be as high as over $0.50 Cdn per km (~ $0.60 US per mile) which I think makes it the most expensive non-bridge, non-tunnel toll highway in the world.
