I think I'll take it to a welder and see what they can do. Maybe a back plate could be applied to reinforce it.

Clean up the area, size up a bit of scrap backer plate (even aluminum), and elegantly GB Weld the pieces altogether. Your art will likely outlive you.

For me it's vibration which has caused metal fatige, so you need to increase the stifness:
Some stiffeners on the back would help a lot

I'm guessing some rubber grommets between nice flat washers on each side of the mount would do the trick for reducing vibration.
