I have been reluctant to use my magnetic tankbag on my 2017 CB1100EX because tank bags are hard on paint. SW Motech has had its Evo line of tankbags that snap on a tank ring that that mounts to the fuel filler, but with the way the 2017 tank curves down front to rear, a flat bottom bag looks terrible and the one Evo bag with a curved bottom curved too severely to fit. A new line of touchless bags called Pro bags has a model called the Engage that curves down, but less severely than the old Evo Engage and it now fits and looks good. It is an expandable bag that goes from 7 to 10 liters and is a perfect size for my needs to carry a few things on a day trip. I did need to buy the optional 12mm spacer kit to keep the rear of the bag off the paint but it is made for this and integrates well. Twisted Throttle has been the U.S. source for SW Motech parts, but there is now a factory store in the U.S. I think the price of the Pro Engage is mismarked on the factory site because it is currently $50 less than Twisted Throttle's price, but all other Pro bags are a couple of dollars cheaper on Twisted Throttle. The new Pro line has a redesigned lower profile tank ring with magnetic attachment that pulls the bag into position before it snaps in place, and still used a hard attachment that is spring loaded. It is pretty cool.

Thanks for posting the pics of this bag. I had the older EVO Engage bag on a KTM 1190 and loved it, but have so far been reluctant to want the mounting ring on the bike out of a desire to keep it as stock as possible. Just sold the old EVO bag and you've made me happier about that by indicating it curved too much to fit on the CB1100 anyway.

I like how the new bag looks and the lower profile mounting ring is helpful. Still am going to hold off for awhile, but your pics are super helpful. Thx.

Yeah, tanks bags and the CB1100 is a challenging compromise just on appearance. I am glad you found something that is functionally friendly and easier on the eyes.

My CB1100 is just a day bike so a tail pack would be the most I would use but do like a small tank bag. The SW-Motech EVO Micro bag fits but you do need to fit the base at the extreme end of its adjustment to make sure it sits back enough. As it is small there is no interference with the paint. That new Pro range does look good I will say, not had any of that range before.

That's a nice setup, too bad the older CB1100 models can't use it.

I have a medium size Marsee magnetic tankbag that I have used, with a piece of drawer liner between the bottom of the bag and the tank to protect the paint. Between the magnets in the bottom of the bag and the side flaps it is pretty secure. I always wipe the tank down with spray detailer first. Still, I like the fact that there is now a no contact option.

I always use a magnetic tank bag, my Joe Rocket Manta has served me well for many years now, I've changed bikes but not the bag. Did I manage to damage my paint with it? Yes indeed, every single time sometimes I coin would stick to the magnet and I wouldn't notice, sometimes so e metallic dust from the sand, on my Victory the paint was so soft that the magnet and the liner on it left and indentation. I guess I just don't care about that much and I keep using it.

Yeah, I was thinking just the desert sand alone getting trapped between magnet and tank acting like 2000 grit sandpaper, one granule at a time.

The dust in the air is so fine we have to have special micro-filters for car and home air-conditioning, and there is a film of that dust on top of everything all the time, it is also in the air and tends to sand the plastic and even glass off of headlights over time and of course everything else that is exposed. You can't escape it, it's always there
