I think it will pay off though, the popping on deceleration is very annoying and makes the bike sound like it is out of tune.
Good video here (I like watching this guy get $500 junkers working again) on this system removal on an old fireblade he is getting back up and running. He was using a US supplier "Driven" but they don't seem to do them for the CB1100.

The block off plates resolved all of those issues for my situation. Had I not upgraded the exhaust and deleted the cat, I would not have likely done the plates.

The members on that Forum say it eliminates all the popping and twitchness the Z900RS is know for. I am going to leave the CB's alone.

Hi Alain - Powerdubs nailed it. The power delivery is smoother and more consistent down low without any feelings of being notchy at slow speeds and turns. My Thruxton had the same issue at low speeds and turns until I did the air injection removal and it smoothed it all out..same with the CB.
I'm probably just stuck on the definition of "twitchiness / snatchiness". Is it a non-linearity in response, or some sort of random variation in response with the throttle held in a fixed position? In slow-speed maneuvers, there is so much interplay between throttle, clutch and rear brake, I'd be hard pressed to identify something as specifically power related.
And I could see that this might be a function of rpm, but I'm not sure why turns or actual speed would factor in. I'm not suggestung that the effect isn't real, just that I'm not sure I understand what the effect is.

I guess if I had to describe it better, a nonlinear throttle response. The bike does not jerk about or anything, but it seems it could just be less __________. What word goes in the blank? Not sure, but compared to the CB1100, the Z900RS is, how about, less civilized. It may be a function how how fast the bike is. I have full blown Akrapovic Exhaust, Headers and all and a K&N Air Filter. The bike will wheelie you off if you get too hasty with the gas. Probably why I ride the CB's more, but when I am in a hurry and do not want to hurt the CB, if that is possible, I ride the Kawasaki.

The best way to describe it is, we're talking about throttle sensitivity/response and power delivery specifically when you're coming in slow to turn or make a U-turn. As you start to roll on the throttle, you may feel kind of a small hesitation or dead/flat spot in the acceleration, and when you roll into it further to compensate, you're greeted with a surge of power (snatch/jerk or twitch). If you're not prepared, it could unsettle the bike when you are at your most vulnerable (leaning in at low speed). It's not necessarily uncontrollable, just unnerving when you're expecting a smooth power delivery.
FWIW, my Triumph had the same issue, as did my KTM... both were remedied by negating the air injection.

The reason of my questioning was that I am having the same feeling/sensation of the "twichiness/Snachiness" at low speed maneuvering especially while turning.
So I was just thinking out loud of what could occur inside the combustion chamber to cause the lean feeling - is it the PAIR system or the O2 sensor?
