A while ago I written why buying Bose QuietComfort headsets. While at any speed I just feel fine without hearing protection or with simple, good earplugs, long tunnels can really be a deafening pain. Long story short I bought QC20/s, they look fine, sit and fit fine and work as expected ....
BUT no way to pull the helmet over your ears (with the QC), or put the helmet on and add the the headset next.
Helmet and Bose in any combination don't fit.

What did I miss, when I read your reports about use Bose QC/s ? Are your helmets all XXXL, your ears very big, or you found a trick ?

Feels to me like I have to offer my pretty headsets on ebay or write them off.

I wear a woollen skull cap which covers the top of my ears. It helps my helmet slide over them and over the QC20s. I also pull the straps of the helmet slightly out to help it over my ears. I’ve been using them for 7 years with no problems.

Is your helmet modular or full face?

You can also get tech fabric skull caps for either cold or warm weather. I get mine at Cycle Gear (have one in town). I don't use ear buds, but the cap keeps the helmet clean and helps it slide on.

I wear a full-face Shoei RF-1200 and use the QC20s under it and connected to my Cardo PackTalk. I don't have much problem with these earbuds because the little silicone "flange" thing lodges them in place. However, there is a technique to this and I suspect it's different for each user and each helmet -- for me I put the helmet on from front to back and that seems to keep things in place. That said, I usually wear a Buff (aka neck gaiter aka neck tube, you know what I mean) over my head and ears. I've done that since before I had earbuds because it keeps my inner helmet cleaner and actually does an ok job of diffusing wind noise (in my old HJC helmet). Since it's breathable, I hardly know it's there and it holds the earbuds in place perfectly.

Thank you guys for your descriptions. Went to a big accessory shop today with my OC20s, in order to check them against a few helmets. It turns out that my helmet - a model with which I am otherwise extremely happy for fit and function - is the culprit (or my head is if you prefer ). There simply ain't enough space in my helmet around my ears for the bulky end of the OC earpieces. With other helmets (e.g. a Caberg) there was no problem. In other words, I have two very nice pieces of cycle equipment ... which don't go together, like two pretty sisters you can't date at once.

I have the [url=http://cb1100forum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=14260]Caberg Levo - love it. Not homologated for the US, but in any case ECE 22.05 is fine for me. On the other hand, it received 4/5 in the UK's [url=https://sharp.dft.gov.uk/helmets/caberg-levo/]SHARP scheme.

The Cabergs do have stunning ratings, all of them. When you look at the Sharp site, and search for all 4or5 star helmets ever tested, the list generated is 90% Cabergs.

Well, that all depends on the outlook of the sisters really j3gq! When I was a teenage lad, in he Merchant Navy (Merchant Marine) in Rio de Janeiro I met these two sister and........ Jeez for a minute there I thought I was in a pub with me mates and not on a motorcycle forum.....
