Its really not a hard task at all if you can remove the battery you could remove the pipes. Its 2 bolts per head pipe and 2 to release the cat and muffler from the frame.

Once its off it will be so much easier to prep and spray without worrying about getting paint on the bike.

BUT if you do really want to use a brush you'd have to do some research on the topic. I've never seen the high heat paints come in a tin for use with a brush.

I think you're probably right about that. Whatever you do I'm sure it will look great.

I've done some of my older bikes exhausts a fresh high heat black every few years. We have alot of road salt and such here so you gotta stay ontop of Undercoat on vehicles and such.

Has anyone tried applying gun-blue to the stainless steel pipes?

Cool idea, buffing it with a 0000 steel wool gives a nice even finish between coats on barrels and blades and such.

I too felt my exhaust was just too quiet. Awhile back ordered an aftermarket slip-on from Webike and I love it. It's the Stainless steel OVER RACING Megaphone Slip-on Silencer, and it sounds and looks amazing. Pricey, but gets the job done. I'd never go back to the original.

I found some brushable exhaust paint, and am considering a slip on, but don't want to eliminate the centerstand, and the 500 buck price is too tall for me.

I use Blue Job on my stainless slip-ons. Mine (this may be true of all stainless pipes?) turned gold, but only at the slip-on connection.
