Since 1969 I have owned just about every family of bikes Honda has made from a PC50, CB's, V45/65, VTX, ST1300, Gold Wing, and a few others. One thing has been consistent among all of them. I love Honda bikes, but I would have even paid a little more knowing they came with good well designed seat. You would have thought that Honda would have fired or retired the seat designer by now!

Yes, my 2016 Africa Twin had a truly awful seat. I believe it has improved quite a lot on the later models. Style over substance in its first iteration I think. I used to use Moto Skiveez on that bike a lot.
I can ride my CB for about an hour before the irritation sets in. I could ride my Suzi (when I still had it) all day and the seat was still comfy. It seems naked standard bikes don't deliver in the seat dept.
manufacturer doesn't matter, nobody is happy with their seat or their windshield (if the bike comes with one)
well the average person in japan is pretty small compared to us fat americans

Awhile back I bought a Daytona Cozy Seat from another Forum member. Sits a little higher and looks like the 70s seat. I find it much more comfortable than the stock seat. They are still available from Samurider for $315 (40,000 yen).

Got a link to that source? Might be a viable option for me to try.

That is a link to the Samurider site, where you can find lots of goodies. Many of them will indicate they are out of stock, but you can email Mr. Takashi and he will usually help you find what you want.
Here is the link to the seat:

Also, I should say I had a Corbin seat on mine when I first got it and it was MUCH more comfortable than the stock seat. It was very heavy and firm and I didn't like the way it looked, so I sold it. After riding on the stock seat awhile, I was wishing I hadn't sold that Corbin.

Thanks for the tip! I queried Samurider about his seats. My quote was about $450 now. Getting close enough to a Corbin price to consider it anyway.

I don't know if I'd pay that much, but you might not have much choice unless you can find someone who is getting rid of one. Good luck.
