I like all covers except my white ones. Guess I just have to paint the bike in black and problem solved

Color matched looks good, gives off a 70's vibe
Was browsing bikes for sale and found this '17 in LA. I noticed the side cover...black.
Red...or silver...or now...black? I hate red, the silver covers make me look at the side cover...but this black cover blends in nice and makes the red tank look, well... almost nearly beautiful...except that it too is red.
Edit: forgot to add...w/ black side covers, now the eye focuses on the dominant red and the engine side cases, engine cover and fins. This is what should stand out: tank and engine--it's what's interesting. The side cover is just a cover...it doesn't do anything, except...cover. So in black the side cover fades into the background so to speak and the bike has a more pleasing look.
That's my aesthetic stance.
And it's the right one.
Generally agree pdedse. The lump and tank are essential in the showcase, me thinks. The image you show looks good to me, black side covers or red.
As the image stands, however, my eyes are drawn to the seat. (I have no idea why)

I like that black cover, if I was to try it I would use that plasti-kote rubber like peelable paint to try it out first. BUT, the brushed silver look on the CB is fairly unique and does make the bike stand out from the norm.
These black covers blend in very nice
