All, is there anybody who has got 3D printing software, knows how to use it, ...
... and who might be willing - if I provided a detailed drawing and dimensions - to turn my "spec" into a 3D printing file ?
I am doing a little study in how to better mount a Tomtom or Garmin satnav in the center of the CB's handlebar with just a small piece of plastic. With 3D printing this could easily be turned into reality. The OEM mounts just don't do it for me, often don't keep the satnav in position for long, leave scratches when removed, and position the device way too close to my eyes. Short, they don't work for me.
Feel free to PM me, email me, or post a response. Thanks !!
There are many useful items on that site, but I cannot use them without some mods. So my question would turn into....
anybody able and willing to slightly modify existing 3D printing files ?
This should be in fact much easier and less time consuming.
Try the
http://www.fiverr.com/ website too, it has been around a while. If you want a service cheap this is a useful site. I took 150 pictures of one of my bikes and got someone on there to render it up as a 3D image for a fraction of the effort it would of took me.
This is what satnav and it's adapter look like
m_in_sc : surprised you say this forum is (still) broken for you, could you not switch to Firefox on a desktop computer or on an iPad ?
I use Firefox on both types of devices, and never have had any problem with the forum site (as long as jscript is permitted / not blocked).

thats a different ball of wax.
as a side note, yes, i went to firefox installed it as a browser, still the same. both machines i use are windows 11, but even my galaxy phone shows it broken. It needs to be fixed on the hosting side, i've seen this before (and know a bit about it as i run my own site). I could probably work around it but a lot of the stuff on here isnt important, to me, but i still check it on occasion, (obviously).
as for the adapter : yes, that is why I need to use a separate 3D-printed holder (as shown in the link) AND the original adapter (shown in the picture). In other words
- the original adapter holds the satnav, and provides power to it
- the additional holder holds the adapter (by holding the ball).
as for the broken site : now I see, and here is the rub, it happens to me too (with FF) once in a while, all I have to do is reload the page and the problem is gone for that session. I am sure you tried that too ....

The website is doing the same thing for me as well (Firefox browser)- but if I click the icon to the left of the URL up top- it says site connection not secure...if I click to disable protection...the site loads with pictures as normal.
