I hope some of the lurkers post up some of the bikes they have owned.

My YM1 and YL1 were very nice examples of the breed. I still regret selling the little YL1 -- even at 40+ years old it was dead reliable. Oh well, I have another YL1 that I'm slowly restoring. The YM1's basic design was from the late 50's so it was more maintenance intensive, whereas the YL1 when it came out in '66, was state-of-the-art two-stroke design.

Omg what fine examples of those bikes. Those are concours clean. Very nice!

Its too bad the epa forced the 2 strokes out of business. There were some great ones going back to the X6 Hustler, the GTR Bridgestone, the YM, YL, RD Yamahas, the GT Suzukis, the H/KH series of Kawasakis...great bikes
I totally agree, Ferret, I love two-strokes, always will. I've read a few reports lately that a few manufacturers are working on prototype two-strokes that have had the emissions cleaned up to the point that they're competitive with four-stroke emissions, so we might see a little bit of a two-stroke comeback in the near future. Am keeping my fingers crossed anyways. Wink
I read somewhere that Yamaha had a clean burn two stroke RZ 350 developed in a Kenny Roberts yellow black livery. Oh my goodness...how many of those could they sell these days?
I've seen renderings of the clean burn RZ350 w/KR paint scheme. How many would they sell? At least two, sounds like you and I would jump at the chance!
Got that right!
Very nice pictures, rode a YM 1 once, thought it was fast compared to my YDS-3.
You guys brought up a RZ350 , I left that out of my list. Had one , it was rough shape but fun.
CA, from what I've read, the YM1 was a U.S. market only bike; word is it had a nice boost in torque over the YDS-3. I was always amazed by how smooth and vibration free that motor was.
