On a side note, isn't it interesting that the Japanese makers have subjugated their main brands for cruiser-only ones. Vulcan, Star, Shadow. In the case of Star, it doesn't even say Yamaha anywhere on the bike, and Vulcan (like Ninja on the sport bikes) is on the damn gas tank, while Kawasaki is buried on the side panel (or fairing). Are American cruiser buyers THAT prejudiced (or foolish) to require a different name on the bike? These bikes are sold worldwide with their proper brand names on the tanks.

+1 on the Triumph cruisers. Decent handling bikes with their own unique character. The America is also 70lbs lighter than the Vulcan. Having ridden both, to me the Triumph is better.

Star, Vulcan, Boulevard, reminds me how Honda re-branded their luxury auto line as Acura and then there is Infiniti and Lexus. All quite silly but effective for marketing I suppose.
I must say I am not disappointed with going to the Vulcan for the long trips! I do miss the 1100 but the Long trips to me are better on my Vulcan. Put over 1200 miles in the past month and will hit 2000 more than likely by the end of august. Actually on the 12th I will be escorting the traveling walls for the American legion riders and that will be an 11 hour riding day.. Then an hour and a half ride back home after it is all done. Should be a good 400+ plus miles that day...

Now not knocking the 1100, I would get beat up without a windscreen and the gas mileage just wasn't there for me to do this same riding...

Prior to my cb1100 I had a 2009 vulcan classic. It was my first bike. For it's intended purpose, it's a very good bike.

For what ever reason the bikes I buy have to be red.
