looking around about the various new motorcycle models which are being presented in those days (the Ducati Multistrada V4 is stunning!) I was left with a bitter flavor in my mouth: it really seems that, in Europe, due to the Euro.5 restrictions there will be no more cb1100ex!

what do you think about the future of the model? will Honda adapt the current cb1100 later in 2021 to comply with euro5; will they make a complete new bike, maybe with a liquid cooled engine?

I'm curious about your thoughts Smile
You are aware, aren't you, that Honda axed the CB1100EX from its lineup in America three years ago?

I'd say that the air-cooled version of this bike isn't long for the Euro market, either. If Honda switches to a liquid-cooled version, okay, but at that point it's not really our CB1100 anymore.
AFAIK the new CB1100 will look a bit different. Honda's patent application shows a monoshock design and 4-1 exhaust. If it gets made that is!
Yes, aware that it was taken down from the us (which i never really understood why)..

And if they’ll make a liquid cooled version, they can keep it!!
Some...thing is looking up in Europe. Look at the BMW R18/2 bobber , biggest 2 cyl. / air-cooled bike ever. and it seems to meet all emission specs. The dealer told me BMW sold every one built this year and has 3500 pre-orders for 21.
That means Honda could do it too. Do I want them to do it, only as a continued source of reasonably priced spare parts Smile
but the difference is, that BMW is an European brand, who is aware that will sell a lot of R18s, and therefore has made the effort to engineer such an engine with air cooling and still be compliant with Euro5: but what about Honda with the cb1100? will they see the past EU sales numbers of this model as something it's worth investing for a re-engineered engine, just to sell it also in Europe? Because in every other part of the world, the current engine is still perfectly ok..
Apparently the problem is cooling the middle two cylinders. There was talk of modifying the front mudguard to incorporate a spoiler to funnel air towards them. If you don't mind the CB1100 being a boxer twin there is no issue Smile

Might be lighter too.

Trying to imagine the current CB1100 as a twin.
I know the above replies have centered around European standards (and BMW), but what about Harley? I know they have added water cooled heads to some of their models, but that rear cylinder must get really hot. I also know Harley is offering a water-cooled model, but a water-cooled Harley just isn't the same (like above responses indicate for our beloved CB1100).
Harley, which is a brand that I respect even if I dislike, won't sell their Sportster 883 model in the EU anymore because of euro5, and the incredible thing is that it actually is their best selling motorcycle there!
