Well done, Django. Gotta love an in-line 4 in any guise.
You did the exchange because you wanted the extra fairing protection I assume or was there another particular reason?
For a short period it was also on my list....

After a few weeks since I had my bike, I met up with a CBF1100 rider, who wanted to see my CB1100EX, cause he was thinking of exchanging his CBF for a CB1100 Smile

He had the older model, with the dual exhaust.
After seeing his bike, I was glad I bought a CB1100.
Fit and finish is still Honda on the CBF, but imo, the CB1100 feels more premium in many parts, the little details.

Saw a review on youtubeand the new model did look a bit cheap in fit n finish.

Anyway, congrats with the new bike, the power should be awesome.

Wow, lovin' that.
If Honda had given us that one over here, I can almost guarantee that one would be in my garage. Why can't we have a COMFORTABLE liter-bike sport-tourer here (a la FZ1, Bandit 1250, etc.)? Granted, we've got plenty of other models to choose from, but that just seems like sure winner. A halfway decent fairing is something that's very hard to live without once you've had one...pair that with 1,000cc inline-4 power and a comfortable seating position, and you have gold, in my book.
That would be gold for me too Papa. 24 karat if they added shaft drive for me.

The new 2016 Bandit 1250S just got a great review in Rider.

That is my thought too. However Django could not be blamed for not sharing this view, and I quote:

There is also rust below the fenders and at the lower bridge.
Some others have also reported some issues in this area. My '10 model has held up well and any bits that don't look so good can be put down to hard use.

Cheers
this is true

while fit and finish is superior, it seems that prepwork on certain cb's is not at the same level as the fit n finish
Great looking bike! Would love something like that straight out of the Honda showroom.
Enjoy!

Mickey,

I stopped by the dealer over the weekend, and they had one new Bandit on the floor. (I've been thinking about this bike off and on for years - still miss my '83 GS1100e). Great looking bike, but man, was it heavy-feeling! They also had a new black '14 CB1100 about 15 feet away, so I immediately went and sat on it to compare...the CB11 felt like a CB450 after sitting on the Bandit! Very disappointed, didn't feel at all comfortable on the Bandit. I think it's an age thing; I'm really not comfortable on heavy bikes anymore, especially in low-speed manouevers like parking, etc.
Papa I too had an 83 GS1100E blue, great bikes. Funny thing about the Bandit 1250.. According to the test I read, unless I read it wromg, it weighs LESS than a CB1100DLX and just a skosh more than the std. I think std was 540, Bandit was around 560, and 570 for the DLX.

Really! I would have guessed 600 easily. It must carry a lot more of its weight up high. It felt very "tippy" sitting still. I'm guessing, like the CB, it probably feels more agile once in motion, but it was pretty sketchy feeling at rest. I'm still bummed...
