What are your thoughts on the gearing? From everything I have read and watched about the bike, the gears seem shorter and much closer together than our CB's.

The gearing's as you say, easy to wheelie in the first 3 regardless of power mode 
I went down one tooth on the front of the CB to make it more responsive.
That's the way I like 'em.
XSR is getting a couple better mpg's if the computer can be believed.
