It only had 2000 miles on it when I bought it. Spark plug, battery, carb clean and that lil sucker fired right up. I think I am going to pester the old man and the the son who have the Superhawk with 4000 miles. I don't think the Benly will work for me. I must break them down!

I was turned on to 303 Aerospace Protectant by the folks that sold me by truck bed cover (metal chassis but vinyl top). I've been using and it works. From what I can gather, it's better than Armor-all as it does not leach a certain compound out of the plastic that normally migrates out, but replaces it.

Check it out. It's a bit expensive though.
Phosphoric Acid, used to clean and etch your metal bits, will leave a phosphate coating on the metal which helps with the adhesion of your POR15 (I didn't do this on my tiller tanks and the POR 15 delaminated - heavy sigh) and also helps with flash rust. Not quite as good as filling with diesel though.

Ole, I am enjoying following you working on the CB77. Keep up the good work. I would like to ride out there to see you and see your bike first hand. Naturally I will be riding your old CB1100.

Ole have you tried davidsilverspares.com for parts for you projects. They have bought out old inventory for years. I have been able to find parts for my CBX there. They might be able to help you find the parts you need. Just a thought.

A CB77 and a CL77 are sitting out in the garage, along with my Cb11.

A CL77 in 1968 was my first " big bike". I look at them now and they are so small lol. Post up a pic when you get a chance

Suggestion before firing.
-pull spark plugs & ground leads
-remove a tappet cover from both sides
-crank engine in short spurts till you see oil up by the valves

I want to thank you for this advice. I am getting around a little better with my new dumb stupid knee. I did just as you suggested and am getting good clean oil up top! Soon as the temps hit 60 in my shed, I am going drain the diesel out of my gas tank, do another round of EvapOrust, put in some fresh non ethanol, and gonna see if the old girl will fire. I have good spark AND compression so wish me luck

It is alive. I have put about 200 miles on it in the last week. It is fun to kick around on.
