I saw this news item a few days ago.
What a terrible loss of so many great machines. Very sad!

I do not understand why so many motor cycle museums have lost a tremendous amount of bikes in fires : this one just now, one in New Hampshire and the big one in the UK ; NMM in Birmingham some years ago. WHY do they do not have the best sprinkler systems installed in their buildings with proper alarms etc. Better a wet bike than a burned bike.

I was just there in August 2019 during an Edelweiss Alps Extreme tour. It was really quite impressive and the collection of exquisite bikes felt like the Guggenheim motorcycle exhibit all over again. Of course, the pass leading up and over to the museum (Passo del Rombo, or Timmelsjoch), is still there and is incredible. Makes the high passes in Colorado seem like the plains of Kansas.

This is huge loss. I consider it as shocking as the sucker punch we experienced when the Notre Dame in Paris burned.

Man, what a shame. I had that museum on my bucket list, along with many others. It looks like a wood building, which, if so, would perhaps be prone to fire hazards. I wonder if the bikes were kept in running condition, with fuel and fluids onboard, which would have helped spread the fire.

Such a loss.

Any loss of important historical items is tragic. How very sad.

A huge loss for the motorcycle riders of the world, not just our European friends who ride. There's at least 2-3 people in the museums management staff who have some questions to answer in regards to how this was able to happen.
