Now I'm not really sold on the same manufacture of the tube must match the tire (as a parts manager that would be a nightmare to keep in stock! So it would probably be a special order in most cases), so I'd be interested in the rational for that (other than monetary).
... my best guess, a match in the surface friction between the two fabrics. Just think shirt and pants. I am sure you have owned a shirt which stayed in your jeans all day long while walking, and another shirt which constantly pulled out and came loose. It's all about how the two types of fabric rub against another. So if the fabric of tube and tire match, the tube doesn't move, and it doesn't exercise a pull on the valve. If the two fabrics don't match, the tube wants to pull one way or the other. Makes sense ?

The ones Yamaha uses on their Tenere' 1200 incorporate a raised flange allowing the spokes to be attached closer to the center of the wheel rather out at the very outer edge.

The KTM 1090 I had used a more conventional spoke wheel with some kind of sealing band to make them tubeless but recommend it be replaced every so many years.
Man, that is a way cool shot.
It is but not mine I found it on the web, but it shows what I see as an elegant, strong, tubeless design that Yamaha (or their wheel supplier) came up with.

Honda really needs to up their game. In your example the spokes are protected from rim impacts.
