After research this week I found Don at Guhl Motors in Lancaster PA who has flashed Honda ECU without having to open the unit. He has assured me he can flash the unit.
The problem is he needs the bike in order to set the parameters for the A/F ratio's. The cost of the flash is 375.00 and no charge for dyno tunning since this is the first CB1100. Is there anyone close to Lancaster who has interest that would like to leave there bike for a few days. Once he has done one and has the map he can then do anyone who is interested. I realize we all have different mods but it would be very close.
If not i will have to send him the ECU to do the initial workup ( restrictions removed )regarding the flash and make a trip down for the dyno work.
There was someone who left there bike for a PC5 map, could you please send me that map and let me know if it was stock or mods that you have.
Edit: I asked him if the ECU could be damaged in this process, he said no, but if it does its his responsibility to replace it.
I don't see how a pcv map would do you any good.
pcv installation takes the o2 sensor out of closed loop so there goes your stock tuning in the closed loop area.
whatever a/f ratio the pcv tuner tuned to, the pcv map only shows + or - to the ecu fuel map to get a result. But they dont know what the ecu map is....
the pcv chart they give you is typically at wot for power somewhere near 13 a/f which would not be the same for cruising or other throttle ranges where fuel economy might be a higher priority or full power is not needed where the a/f might be around 13.7 or 14.something.
the pcv files have a af ratio section that is used fr autorune target ratios but that might not be what you want in all areas... Varies 13.4 -13.7 in areas of the map. You could just downloat the power commander program and open the stock cb1100map to see that table.
if the reflash can incorporate any fuel changes that a pcv map would show, it still needs to be dynod to verify the result. If changes are needed then it has to be flashed again. Or a pcv can be still used to fine tune or "trim" what's the ecu is doing.
Hmm..would you get to specify if you want it tuned for low/mid vs high RPM performance.....I live about 30 miles from Lancaster....wouldn't mind having the extra performance, but may not want to go through the hassle or risk....I have a PCV and Staintune. thinking......
And I wonder how much a new ECU costs from Honda if you ever need to go back to stock?

Hiker,
These guys are one of the best tuners in the US, give Don a call, I'm sure he can dial in what ever you want.

How it works:
ECU flashed all restrictions removed
Bike on dyno computer software specks out a/f ratio for best performance
Ecu then flashed with correct map
no need for any aftermarket add ons

You are now on the right track. Don flashed my FZ8, the results were astonishing. He's been an authority in this area for a long time. If there is any way you can connect with him personally to get this done, that's your best bet.

30 miles away? What's holding you back?
Don't need a new ECU, it can easily be reflashed back to stock.

Red,
I spoke with Lee's in NC who hooked me up with Don. I spoke with him personally at length. It's a 3hr ride from me and i have to leave the bike with him for a few days which means two round trips and i have to trailer it down. If Hiker doesn't do anything I'll have to figure something out.
I watch these tuning threads with interest, in a lurking capacity.
If I a few years there is a £20 download and a couple of cables I can use to 'reflash' my own ECU then I might look into it. As is, I just love the bike so much how Honda built it that I'm not anywhere close to cocking things up on the off chance of a notional extra 30mph on the top end. Just doesn't compute in my head.
Buying this bike and being disappointed is kind of self inflicted pain.
There are many bikes for less money that will burn it off. I didn't want one of those, I wanted my perfect, flawed Dixie.

I agree with you T, nothing wrong with the bike as is, hell i own one of the fastest production bikes ever built so its not a matter of speed. Its a matter of principal, don't restrict my bike in a ridiculous manner because you do it in your own country and try to pass it off to the states. I don't believe a restriction like this has ever come to the states or Europe for that matter.
As they say, to each his own.
i am following these threads closely as well.
i dont have much interest in going over 100mph. i am interested in the acceleration getting there and i guess its just knowing your getting all that the motor is capable of.
its one thing to just look good and another to be just fast, kicks ass if both

i keep finding ways to spend money on her.......making my other her jealous.

No, I'm totally with you on that one mate. Really I think having crazy Jap laws slip through to our free(er) lands is cuss.
However, I think the usefulness to me on this bike going over 112 mph is so negligible that I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. He'll I've had company cars that go faster for the last 20 years! All of them!
When I was 24 I was smokin round in a BMW M3 EVO, 321 bhp. Back then my bikes had to be better than the car, so I sucked in a strict diet of Gixxers and FJ's to accommodate.
I'm past all that, so I don't see 112 as a repression, more or a safety valve.
As you so rightly say, each to their own, and I respect men who push things forward, all power to you.
I hope we get this thing doing 150, then I'll buy the upgrade, keep schtum, and enjoy my Sunday 148 jaunts.
