I have a massive dent in the side of my tank because my Dad didn't tie the bike down right on the trailer when he brought it back from Montana, and it flopped over and landed on the side rail. So my question is: does anyone know if I can fit the '14 tank on a '13 model? It's about 80-90 dollars cheaper, can hold .7 more gallons, and I think they're available in black (maybe even white?) in the United States. That's another question that's been bugging me, I can't seem to find color options on the OEM part sites for the tanks. Does anyone know how to figure that out? If I could, I would definitely get a white one, but I also prefer black over the candy red. And I'm not super set on getting a whole new tank if you think I can get dent repair and a paint job for close the same price (760 USD), but from what I've read that's a no go. Thanks for taking the time to read this, I'm a noob to this and I tried to figure it out on Reddit forums, which eventually led me here. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

I don't (yet) own a CB1100 but I have to think that this is possible. You probably need to be prepared to acquire additional parts that might be affected by the larger tank. However, thinking logically, Honda would haved increased the tank's capacity by going wider and/or taller, so the mechanical interfaces at the front, underside, and rear should be the same. If there is any substantial risk, it is that the seat might be different.

I just looked at some photos for comparison and it looks like the rear of each tank terminates at the same point, so I think that I can bank on the current seat being compatible. Someone did say in another thread that there was a difference in saddle size, though. Hm. I want to get a new seat eventually anyway, to accommodate for longer rides. That would definitely break my bank to have to buy both tank and seat right now, though. Tank wise, I did find this information (post by user KennyB):
"The larger tank will fit and the 13' fuel pump will bolt right up to the 14' tank. The fuel pressure spec for both systems is 50 psi at idle. The fuel flow rates are: 13' 9.8 us oz./10 sec. and 14' 13.3 us oz./10 sec. I'm not sure why? Injectors are the same, cams are the same, etc. unless it has to do with tank volume. The physical shape of the fuel pumps are different with different pick-ups for the sending unit so I'm not sure how the fuel gauge will read."
So I'm wondering, what would be the consequences of fitting this larger tank to a bike that was meant for a lower 'fuel flow rate' than the bike that the tank was originally intended for, if all other aspects are the same? Anyway, thanks for your response.

This, plus a lot of helpful discourse on this forum has led me to confide in this project. I think I'm going to be ordering one from Samurider come middle of next month. What do you guys think of the metallic gray [url=http://www.samurider.com/?p=19185/#itemImage]http://www.samurider.com/?p=19185/#itemImage vs. the standard white?
I do not speak French and neither good nor English, but as I understand from the French forum that is not possible to replace the tank ...

Here is a white DLX tank for ¥83,000 ($694.39). That should come in under budget with shipping and he ships FAST.
It should switch just fine, the seats are interchangeable too, so your old seat should work with no issues. I like the gray, but really, all the colors are good no? The white is awesome, the black is too. I know a lot of peeps here like Samurider. I got Erics Chic cafe' seat and short rear fender from WeBike Japan where the prices were competitive and the shipping was fast and free. Exact same parts from the same manufacturer and they sell oem. Probably worth checking out. Enjoy!
