Haha...didn't know that! Next thing you'll tell me is that the term Bank Angle Sensor is a common term among the mc community and my not knowing is...telling.

So if my BAS shuts my bike off should it decide to take a nap, why would the bike need a kill switch?
So you can turn it off accidentally when you’re riding along in the middle of nowhere and have a moment or two’s panic about why the bike has stopped before realizing what you’ve done. Don’t ask how I know.
Nice one Cormanus, never thought of it like that but it sticksTongue

The red stop switch removes 12 volts from the e.c.u. and the e.c.u. has to go through it's brief startup cycle before the engine is ready to run again.

The bank angle sensor is hard wired to the ground side of the engine stop relay ( which controls the engine 12 volt bus supplying all relevant equipment to run the engine ) it has ( thoughtfully ) nothing to do with the e.c.u. and therefore no logic has to make decisions in the process, i'm picking it is a weight with a switch attached that stays in place as long as the g force of the bike points straight down the centerline, but if the bike is not moving and falls beyond the setpoint of the b.a.sensor it breaks the contact, disengages the engine stop relay and thereby removes the 12 v. supply to the engine 12v bus ( the engine stops ).

This simplified diagram may explain this;

Thanks Max! Now I don’t have to look it up Big Grin
Aye. He’s a good man, our Max.
