I happened to notice, when taking a riding break this morning, two tubes hanging just behind the side stand. One's black and open at the end, the second is a clear tube with a secured cap.
What are these?
Sorry for my dumb questions, guys...
Emissions drain tubes to the best of my knowledge. tHere is another one up under the throttle bodies, short and L shaped. tHe clear ones are made to accumulate emmisions vapors which turn into fluids, and are supposed to be drained upon occassion when you see something in there. The black one I am not sure about but suspect it's some kind of breathing tube due to the slash cut
Ahhh, okay.. makes sense.
I remember reading in the owners book about the one in front of the throttle bodies.
I was kind of thinking the black one could possibly be an overflow outlet for the fuel tank. I know when I've refueled my bike, it's very easy to all of a sudden have the fuel level begin rising fast towards the filler opening. Mine's not had anything run out of it... yet
Thanks.
I think the black (open) tube is a drain for the evap canister. The clear (capped) tube is a drain for the airbox. Due to the crankcase ventilation system, oil and moisture can collect in the airbox so it needs a drain. I generally uncap and drain it during oil changes.
