hi folks . have a 13 with about 4k on it , got it back in nov. Was running a tiny bit rough over the winter..anyway decided to do an oil change . bought honda gn4 oil and a new kn filter , all the right stuff . put all 4 qts in and it was above upper level indicator , just a bit . drove it several times on short rides and it started stuttering and back firing , sort of sounded at some point like it was jumping to 3 cyl. operation ! Not nice and the warmer the bike got the worse it got.
Drained a cup out and indicator now in the middle obviuosly when cold on center stand in garage , first 3 following shorter rides seem to continue with rough and stuttering behavior ...now on its 3 or 4th ride it seem to be much less but still somewhat there and exhaust sounds louder and slightly differently . Did the reset of the fuel TPS many times over and dont seem to matter. Its better now but what is going on here ?, perhaps a case of some excess oil that needs to be burned out or should i take it in to dealership?. Otherwise VERY happy with the CB1100 . As you can tell I am not a home mechanic .Thanks in advance
G'day Eric. It is highly, very highly, unlikely that engine rough running is associated with the oil change you did. So relax on that front.

As for the rough running, you have made it clear that your mechanical knowledge is limited so I would strongly suggest you take your bike to a qualified motorcycle mechanic. Could be a spark plug breaking down, bad fuel from the winter break, valve adjustment required or any number of things. It is impossible to give an Internet diagnosis.

I don't where you are but I am sure someone on the forum can point you to a dealer or independent shop in your area.

Good luck mate.

Cheers
Ah! Washington DC I see. Got to be plenty of options for you. Post some photos of your bike and rides when you are happy with the bike.
I agree with Ptero. The behavior you describe is not oil related.

Missing, rough running and backfiring most likely point to an ignition related issue.
or bad fuel

It has just had a winter break before the oil change so that is a possibility. My first guess actually. You blokes would know something about that.

Huh? What is with this underlining?
