Beyond the pale; this concept defies logic.

“The future of motorcycling will be so safe that riders won’t have to wear a helmet or gear. There will be no way you can have an accident.”

The title of the project is BMW Motorrad's idea, not mine. The irony is not lost, I hope.

Steve McQueen would be...nonplussed, I think.

Not their brightest moment.
Except that Steve McQueen didn't make the jump. Bud Ekins did.

Who needs gear when your bike has the latest safety features?

In the next iteration it will drive and park itself.

My bike already has the ability to "park itself" without any added electronics!
...as long as you are not fussy about where or how it parks... Wink
Pretty interesting concept. Hard to imagine a time when there would be no need for safety gear or, more accurately, when the safety gear is, essentially, built into the bike. I'd like to ride it.
I hate to see the underbelly of a bike, regardless of what kind it is. Must.. Look... Away.
And on the realistic side of things, here's the latest technology in preventing injuries: motorcycle racing suits with airbags, all controlled by an ECU programmed with data acquired from research and tests.

Alpinestars has something similar in development.
